Preparation for the Real World

            Many people think that the Romeo and Juliet project would be a waste of time. The Romeo and Juliet project was a great project to do. It is better than just reading it and taking a test on it because it is a more memorable learning experience and fun, it is collaborative, we get experience with technology tools, and we get learning inside and outside of the classroom. There are many people that think this project is not a god idea, but it is a definitely a great project to do.

            It is very collaborative. The students are working on this project with other students from Van Meter, Iowa. This is a very good thing because the students are meeting new people and communicating with people that are very far away. In the project the Students at South High School are doing Acts 1,3, and 5 and the Students in Van Meter are doing Acts 2 and 4. This is a good thing because they have to be responsible for their parts. By working with the students in Iowa it gave the students communication skills and it will help them down the road. This is a good learning experience and skill. This is one reason this project is better than just testing on it, but getting technology skills is also a good thing.

            We worked with Skype, blogs wikis, and email. All of these things are good skills to have because its good for collage and sometimes people get job interviews over Skype. If the person doesn’t know how to work Skype they probably will not get the job. Computer and technology skills are also good because a lot of information and other things are on the computer. Also email is used by a lot of people to communicate so that skill is very helpful. Wikis and blogs are good because people share information with each other on them. This is a great skill to have, but doing work inside and outside of the classroom helps Students learn more.

            This project took a lot of hard work in and out of the classroom. Working outside the classroom is good because it is more learning. All acting students had to go act after school on the weekends to do this project. Coming after school and on the weekends requires students to have a lot of responsibility. Being responsible is a very good trait to have because colleges and adults like responsible students. Learning out of the classroom also helps the students remember the material better because they had to come on there free time to work on the project. Learning inside and outside of the classroom is a good reason why this project was not a waste of time, but this project being a fun memorable is a better reason.

            This project was not just a good learning experience, but it was also fun and very memorable. Everyone will remember this project for a very long time. If the students took a test on this they would not remember it as well. In ten or twenty years if someone asks them what they remember from the freshman English most of the students will probably say “that big Romeo and Juliet project we did”. It is also not a waste of time because it was a lot of fun. The acting was very fun and exciting. All of the students had a really good time on the Romeo and Juliet project. If the students weren’t having fun on the project it would be a waste of time but everyone was enjoying it.

            This project was very exciting and fun to do and it was not a waste of time this is because the students learned how to use technology and increase their social skills. Later in life, students can look back and realize they have learned valuable skills in technology and communications. The students also learned good responsibility. This project was not a waste of time.

Final Blog Post

We are pretty much finished with the Romeo and Juliet project. We have finished all of the filming and everything. My character Paris got killed by Romeo on Saturday. This project was a lot of fun and I think that it was a good memorable learning experience. The final showing is on April 30th. Mr. P. still needs to make the film and edit it over spring break and then it will be ready. The Van Meter kids are still finishing up their part in the project. I think it will be really cool when everything is done. I am really excited to see the final showing and I hope it goes really well.

We’re not really doing much for the project right now, but my job right now is to memorize my lines for Saturday. Acting is really fun, but it’s hard at the same time because I always laugh. I don’t think I will laugh so much next time we film because I’m talking to Romeo and not Lord Capulet. Whenever I have to act with Ardi I always laugh because he does this weird face. Acting is more fun than any other job in my opinion because you can mess up a lot and just redo it. I think that being a print advertiser or something like than would be boring because all you do is make glogs and sit there. If I wasn’t an actor I would probably want to be a sound person because at least you get to listen to music. The only hard part about acting is memorizing your lines. Saturday is the last day for filming so after that it is over. This has been a really fun play to do.

On Saturday i have some longer lines such as:
"Give me the torch, and go stand over there.
Put out the torch so I can’t be seen.
Hide under the trees,
Listen to see if anyone is coming,
And if you hear someone, signal me.
Give me those flowers and watch for people."
These lines are going to be pretty difficult to memorize because they are longer. This is the first line i have to say in Act 5 and i have a couple more that are just as long. I think i will do fine i will just memorize them on friday and saturday morning. After we film this scene it will be over and we will have completed are project. Hopefully everyone shows up to film and they are on time. Hopefull everything goes well too. Im not sure if were filming inside or outside but i hope its inside because its cold outside.

Blog Post # 8

On Saturday April 9th, 1pm at South we are filming act 5 scenes 1 and 3. I have a lot of lines in act 5 because I die in this act. Romeo and I/Paris fight because of Juliet and he kills me. So far this play has been going really well and it’s been a lot of fun. I'm kind of sad that it’s almost over, but I’m also really happy because it is a lot of work. I hope the final movie turns out really good. I think I will be able to memorize all of my lines. It might be a little bit harder than before but I think I'll be able to handle it. After my death the play is pretty much over. When I die I ask Romeo to put me next to my almost wife so I can be next to her and he does it which is kind of weird. I've never filmed at south before; I've always filmed at someone’s house so I think it will be a good experience. Everyone is doing a good job on their parts in the play and I hope it keeps going this good for the rest of the play.

Yesterday at 7 we had to film Act 3 Scenes 2 and 4 at Noelles House. It went pretty well, but it was hard keeping a straight face because ardi kept smiling at me and i kept laughing. It was pretty funny, but it was kind of annoying because it took so long and i wanted to go home. I had fun filming and i think everyone else did to. Being an acter is alot of fun because it isn't hard and you have alot of fun doing it. Im glad i put acting as my first choice on my sheet because it is fun. My character Paris is a good character to play because he is an important person in the play but he doesnt have alot of lines to memorize. I have alot of lines in Act 5 when i die but thats pretty much it. i think ill be able to do it and it should be fun. We are filming Act 5 Scenes 1 and 3 on Saturday April 9th, 1pm at South. We are doing Scene 2 During 6th hour, Friday April 8th.

The Filming on Friday at annes house went very good. Everyone had their lines memorized and we had a pretty good time. It was alot of fun. Today we are filming act 1 scenes 4 and 5. My charachter Paris isn't in these scenes but im going to show up anyways for extra points. I think it will be fun because this is the party Scene where Romeo and Juliet fall in love and make out. I think alot of people are going to show up for the extra points because its gunna be fun and it probrably wont be hard. This Project is going very good so far. All the actors are doing good and the memorizing of the lines is going good. Everyone is doing a good job working on their stuff. Alot of people are having fun doing this and so am I.

Today after school we are filming act 1 scenes 2 and 3. My character Paris is only in scene 2. I only have 2 lines to say but they are important. My lines are: "Mr. Capulet, I would like to marry Juliet and i was wondering if you would let me." and after he replys i say "but she is the only girl i love and i want to marry her." Even though my lines are very short they are very important because they show that i want to marry juliet and i love her, but she falls in love with romeo at the party so i can't have her. Paris is a very important character in this play because he shows that he wants Juliet, but she wants to be with Romeo. I think the filming will be alot of fun and exciting. I have all my lines memorized so it will not be hard.

Blog Post # 3

I just started trying to memorize my lines. It isn't very fun but its not very hard. I currently have memoried 4 lines. I have to memorized a few more lines and its going to be pretty easy. I am supposed to feel kind of sad that she doesnt want to marry me but kind of happy too. This play is going to be fun if your an actor because you do not have to do much exept for memorize lines, have a blog, and act. More people should have been actors because it is probrably the most fun out of all the jobs. This play is going to be alot of fun. I hope the play goes really well.

In this play I am Paris. Paris is the guy that really wants to marry Juliete, but she loves Romeo. I want it to be fun and exciting. I don't have very many lines in the book so i think i will do a very good job memorizing them and having a good time. This play is going to be pretty fun because I am working with alot of my friends. I wanted to be an actor because it looks like a lot of fun. Paris seems like a good character to play because he wants to marry juliete but cant. This play is going to set in high school and Romeo and Juliete are going to go to rival high schools.

1st Blog Post - Acting

I got acting as my job for the Romeo and Juliette play. I am really glad I get to be an actor for this play. I am playing the role of Paris and I think it will be very fun. This will be a very good experience and I think I will have a good time doing it. It will be a fun thing to do because a lot of my friends are actors to. I  think it will not be that hard either because all we have to do is memorize our lines. This project is going to be very fun mainly because i am an actor. My job as an actor is to act and show up to the places where were doing the acting. This is going to be really fun.
